There's a BIG reason why MANY so want to emulate Marvin, imitate Marvin and wanna be like Marvin and the "What's Going On" album is a huge reason why. The brother knew he was making some kind of history, he just didn't know how. I'm sure it blew his mind when he saw its impact years later. This album still resonates in the mind of Marvin and music fans in general and we see its impact on artists like Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson & R. Kelly - artists who sing about peace and love in some of their joints. Yet no one can come close to Marvin Gaye. As far as soul and R&B is concerned, he's the real deal still... talk about how great this album was to you. What were you doing when you bought it, listened to it and melted when Marvin's voice rang through the speakers. Let's talk. :)
